In September 2023, history was made with the first ever Conference for Natural Playspaces for Children hosted in Latin America. This groundbreaking event, spearheaded by the Alana Institute and executed in collaboration with the Child and Nature program, SESC SP, and ISGA, marked a significant milestone in advocating for children's access to natural environments.​

 

The conference was a resounding success, drawing 463 participants from across the globe. It served as a catalyst for increasing awareness about the critical importance of integrating natural spaces into children's environments. Attendees were immersed in a vibrant atmosphere where they had the opportunity to learn, play, and explore.

 

​Featuring a diverse array of activities including engaging workshops, lectures, panels, 10 enriching field visits, 8 cultural conventions, interactive models, and child-friendly spaces, the conference offered something for everyone. It was a celebration of nature, childhood, and the power of community coming together to champion a cause that benefits us all.
